Several years ago, I decided to return to the artmaking I always loved but never felt I had the time to do.   I made the study of drawing and painting a priority in my life. Always a lover of museums, I wanted to spend time creating my own work rather than simply looking at art.   What I’ve discovered is that I’ve never looked more intently at my own world or at the artwork of others than I do right now.
 
I am fascinated by the light, colors, values, and reflections in both landscapes and still life arrangements. Nothing is more challenging and entertaining for me than to figure out how to relay the 3-dimensional world onto a 2-dimensional surface.
 
Painting has become a key element in my life.   I believe that the arts and the making of art can heal many ills of an individual and, by extension, the world.    

Art is a wonderful way to engage with the world as well as, when necessary, retreat from it.
